WASHINGTON, DC Marlet H. Benedick, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Capitol Hospice in Arlington, Va. Marlet was born August 28, 1929, in York County, and was the son of the late Oliver and Elsie (Wilt) Benedick. He graduated from Penn State University in State College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Marlet was employed by Westinghouse Aerospace at BWI and also worked for a subcontractor who did research for the Navy. The church in his life was Capitol Hill Presbyterian in Washington, D.C. Mr. Benedick loved traveling, the arts, and visiting his family and friends. He was a devoted son, a quiet leader, and had a great influence on the rest of his family attending college. Marlet is survived by his sister, Theda Decker of York, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Luther Benedick and Raymond Benedick; and his two sisters, Marjorie Ryan and Betty Benedick. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Strinestown Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Richard Starr from Christ Lutheran Church in (Starview) Mount Wolf.
