Lloyd E. Adkins Obituary
YORK Lloyd E. Adkins, 74, formerly of Gettysburg, passed away at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home. He was the fiance of Theda Decker of York. Lloyd was born April 18, 1940, in Tad, W.Va., and was the son of the late Charlie and Madeline (Moore) Adkins. He worked as a mechanic for Metro Transit Authority in Maryland. Lloyd was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester. Lloyd is survived by three sons, Lloyd E. Adkins, Jr. and his wife, Lynda of Germantown, Md., Charles Adkins, and John Adkins and his companion, Debbie Schroeder of Gaithersburg, Md.; his two daughters, Janet Adkins of Romney, W.Va., and Pamela Adkins Hungerford and her husband, Todd of Gaithersburg, Md.; 11 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; his brother, Douglas of Columbia, Tenn.; and his four sisters, Garnet Wilkes of Muscle Schoals, Ala., Wilma Jones of Mableton, Ga., Patsy Baum of Canton, N.C., and Joyce Walker of Richmond, Va. Lloyd was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Rev.
