YORK Richard L. Summers, 90, of West Manchester Township, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lois I. (Smith) Summers. He was retired from Dentsply Inc. after over 20 years employment. Prior he was a painter with Epstein's and Sons working in the Haines Acres Development. An Army Air Corps Veteran, having served in WWII, he was a mechanic working on B-17s. Richard enjoyed flying private airplanes and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed collecting things and going to flea markets. He was a member of Prince AA Club. Born in York, on March 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna E. (Litsinger) Summers. He is survived by a son, Richard L. Summers, Jr. and his wife, Linda; a daughter, Sandra Weire and Dale Lighty; three grandchildren, Brian Weire, Tonya Summers, and Colleen Summers; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Fair; a brother, Charles Summers; and Richard's companion, Mereda Helm. He was preceded in death by a son, Perry L. Summers. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York. The service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard B. Starr. Burial will be in St. Paul (Wolf's) Cemetery with a presentation by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to York County Food Bank, 254 W.
