YORK Gesua (Fregapane) Mingora, 77, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 5:55 a.m. at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Andrew A. Mingora for 56 years. Mrs. Mingora was born September 18, 1936, in Cattolica Eraclea Sicily, a daughter of the late Aurelio and Rosa (Pennino) Fregapane. In 1949 at the age of 13, she immigrated to the United States with her family. She was a 1956 graduate of York Catholic High School. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Saint Patrick Church, York, and an adorer of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in the Good Shepherd Perpetual Adoration Chapel and at Saint Joseph Church. She was a member of the Catholic Woman's Club and the Legion of Mary Auxiliary. Mrs. Mingora was a talented seamstress and successful businesswoman who shared her many gifts at the Blue Dove Bridal Shop, which she and her husband owned and operated from 1991 until their retirement in 1998. She delighted in her children and grandchildren and was known for her generous hospitality, excellent cooking, unique creativity, and contagious laughter. She enjoyed playing dominoes with her family and with her neighborhood dominoes group. Left behind to cherish her memory are her three children, Anthony Mingora and his wife, Wendy of York, Marie Bair and her husband, Tim of York, and Rose DeGregorio and her husband, Kyle of Pittsburgh; her nine grandchildren, Elena, Olivia, Claudia, and Sophia Mingora, Andrew and Christina Bair, and Paul, Jon, and Julia DeGregorio; along with many nieces and nephews. She was loved and admired by all. Mrs. Mingora is also survived by four brothers and three sisters, Rev. Msgr. Mercurio A. Fregapane, Charles Fregapane, and Joseph Fregapane and his wife, Mary Frances, all of Florida, Vincent Fregapane of San Diego, Calif., Sister Mary Veronica OP of the Dominican Monastery of the Perpetual Rosary in Lancaster, Josephine Sibol and her husband, Michael, and Mary Arcuri and her husband, Richard. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Antonina Falci. Viewings will be Thursday, May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Rosary at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York, and at Saint Patrick Church on Friday, May 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. The Rev. Msgr. Mercurio Fregapane and her pastor, Father Keith Carroll, will be celebrants. Entombment will be in Holy Savior Cemetery.
