YORK Rodney Lee Becker, 69, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Rodney was born in Hanover, on September 14, 1944. He was a son of the late Robert and Mildred (Shelleman) Becker. Rodney was a 1962 graduate of William Penn Senior High School in York. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served in the 2nd Battalion 9th Marine Division during the Vietnam War until 1968. Rodney retired from the General Telephone Electric Company where he worked for more than 27 years. He was a current partner in the Strictly Fitness Athletic Club of York. Rodney was a member of the Living Word Community Church in Red Lion. Rodney is survived by two children, a daughter, Kelly A. Bortner of York, and a son, Kyle A. Becker of York; four grandchildren, Kyle N. Chapman of Philadelphia, Chase M. Bortner of York, Allie K. Becker of York, and Grant A. Becker of York; and two brothers, Robert Becker of York and Donald Becker of Dover. Rodney was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Hackman. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, PA 17356. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rodney's memory may be made to Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042; or Living Word Community Church.
