YORK Edna "Eddy" M. (Burkhart) Haugh, formerly of Red Lion, entered into eternal rest on Sat., May 31, 2014 at 2:25 p.m. at Broadmore Senior Living in York, after a lengthy illness at the age of 91. She was the wife of the late Rev. Preston L. Haugh who entered into rest on Dec. 24, 1997 Edna was born in Lancaster on February 28, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Abram and Mary (Martin) Burkhart. Eddy was a homemaker and she also worked in the Red Lion School District in the cafeteria. She was a longtime and very active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion and was also a member of the Red Lion Historical Society. Eddy is survived by a daughter, Coleen R. Wise of Dallastown and husband David; three grandsons, Eric D. Wise of New Freedom and wife Carrie, Douglas R. Wise of Seven Valleys and fiancee Kristin, and Tyler B. Wise of Dallastown; two great-grandsons, Ryan W. and Camden E. Wise, both of New Freedom; four sisters, Esther Shives of Reno, Nev., Ruth Sheaffer and Betty Leich, both of Lancaster, and Martha Shultz of Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Marshall A. Haugh on October 7, 1993; her two brothers, John and Amos Burkhart; and a sister, Ann Mosemann. There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Memorial Service of Honor and Praise for Edna will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Avenue, Red Lion. The family will greet those in attendance directly following the service. Her pastor, the Rev. Lenore Hosier will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Bethlehem Stonepile Cemetery In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: St. Paul's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 250, Red Lion, PA 17356; or to the , 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603. Eddy, as she was fondly referred to from her loving husband, was a wonderful wife, Mother and Grandmother. Her church was her life and spending quality time with family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
