FAIRVIEW PARK, OH Dr. H. Ronald Pottorff, formerly of York, died at 7:19 a.m. Thursday at Cleveland Clinic. He was the husband of Nancy (Bazdar) Pottorff. Born in York, a son of the late Howard E. and B. Arlene (Shaw) Pottorff, he was a graduate of William Penn High School, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Shippensburg University, his Master's Degree from Bowling Green University, and his Doctorate from Nova University in Florida. He also attended Cornell University, DePaul University, and the University of Grand Forks. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree he taught math for Dallastown Area School District. After receiving his Master's Degree he taught math at Fairview High School in Ohio, where he was also head of the math department. Then, after receiving his Doctorate he worked as a Professor of Mathematics at Cuyahoga Community College, in Cleveland, where he was also Mathematics Program Coordinator and served as a Dean of the College. After retirement he was then asked to return as a Dean. He currently worked part time at PlayhouseSquare Foundation, where he was also a volunteer. He attended Old Stone Church in Cleveland, and First Baptist Church in York. He was a life member of the National Education Association, and served on the Fairview Park Recreation Commission and the Fairview Park Education Association. He was also President of the Addington Place Condominium Association Board. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Dr. Pottorff is survived by cousins, Sandy Fisch, and her husband Jack, of Pittsburgh, Barry Pottorff, and his wife Dodie, of York, and Barry Baltzley, and his partner Roger Bergstrom, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Entombment will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 3375 Druck Valley Road, York PA 17406.
