NEW FREEDOM Dorothy B. Cox, 91, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Dove House Hospice, Westminster, Md. She was the wife of the late Willard W. Cox, Sr. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, July 12, from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The memorial service will begin at 12 noon Saturday, July 12, from the mortuary with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Cademartori officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery. Born August 9, 1922, in Codorus Township, York County, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Ira E. and Lula M. (Wolf) Braun. Dorothy was formerly of Sparks, Md. She was a 1938 graduate from the former Codorus Township High School and was named valedictorian of her class. Dorothy was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Mason-Dixon Baptist Church of New Freedom. Dorothy attended the New Freedom Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, listening to country music at the state fairs, and making doll houses for her family. Dorothy was a founding member and vice president of the Thornton Mill Garden Club. Dorothy leaves six children, Dorothy L. Cox of New Freedom, Willard W. Cox, Jr. of Burlington, Wash., Philip L. Cox and his wife, Gloria Jean of Hampstead, Md., Sally Ann Mellott and her husband, Wayne of Parkton, Md., Steven Lee Cox and his wife, Kathy of Cockeysville, Md., and Deborah J. Harman and her husband, Edward of Hampstead, Md.; one sister, Helen Wilhelm of Shrewsbury; a brother, Ira E. Braun, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Downingtown; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchldren. Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Kevin E. Cox, Sr. Contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to
