YORK Carol E. Godfrey finally entered into God's kingdom Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the age of 71, after a lengthy illness which she and many doctors gave their all to try and fight. She leaves behind her best friend and husband of over 30 years, Thomas E. Godfrey, Sr. She will be sadly missed by her dear brother, Harry Miller, Jr. and his wife, Chris. A strong smile and wink to him while he visited her in the hospital proved how much she loved and adored him. Even though many years continued to bring distance between Carol and her daughters, Felecia and Rene, she still cherished and loved them very much. She also leaves behind three stepchildren, Kim Anderson and her husband, Tim, Tom Godfrey, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and Denise Sleeger and her husband, Mearl. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren will also be missed by her. Carol met many dear friends and cared for many dear friends in her 10 year employment at Misericordia Nursing Home and even kept in touch after she retired. Please join us in saying goodbye to a woman with a caring heart and who lived life the best way she knew how. Viewing will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt Rose Ave., York. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Carol wanted donations made to the SPCA of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 because of her love of animals. Many, many heartfelt thank yous to Memorial Hospital staff and John Hopkins staff for their generosity and compassionate, caring hearts during Carol Godfrey's illness. Not enough words can describe how much we appreciated all you did for our family. KefferFH.com
