DOVER Dale David "Gip" Gipe, 93, of Dover Township, died at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothea R. "Dottie" (Frey) Gipe. Born February 25, 1921, in Lower Chanceford Township, a son of the late Charles and Edith (Shoff) Gipe, he served in the U.S. Army Ordinance during WWII, and was retired from R&E Painting. He was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion, Shiloh American Legion Post #791, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. In addition to his wife of 67 years, Mr. Gipe is survived by his very close friends, Glenda and Jonathan Wells, of Thomasville, and their children, Jessica and Joshua; and Beth and Sam Crone, of Dover. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with guests meeting at the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance to the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide flag presentation.
