YORK Blodwyn L. (Lewis) Newcomer, 93, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 10, 2014. She was the wife of Harold S. Newcomer, to whom she was married 51 years until his death in 2001. Born October 28, 1920, in Coaldale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sage (Thomas) Lewis. She was a 1938 graduate of Coaldale High School where she was an honor student. Mrs. Newcomer was a correspondent for the York Dispatch, secretary at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Mount Wolf, and was a secretary in the PA Department of Labor and Industry. She was a member of Shiloh Home Economics Club and Dover area AARP, where she was an officer in both organizations. Her church memberships included Zion United Methodist Church and the Lightbearers Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years in various churches. Crafts and poetry were her hobbies and she received several awards for her work. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Cindy Storm. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Newcomer, who died February 15, 2014. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf, and on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York. Her service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at church. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Paul Stambach and the Rev. Bruce Fensterbush.
