Dorothy A. Schrum

OCEANSIDE, CA Dorothy A. (Bair) Schrum, 92, formerly of Spring Grove, passed away on July 1, 2014, in Oceanside, Calif. She was the loving wife of the late George C. Schrum who passed away April 12, 2014; together they shared over 70 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her son, George A. Schrum in 2006; her sister, Ruthanna McWilliams; and her brothers, William, Kenneth and Charles Bair. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Alice Bortner, and her brother-in-law, Allen Schrum. Dorothy was born in Spring Grove on March 5, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian M. (Swartzbaugh) Bair. She graduated from Spring Grove High School Class of 1939. She moved to California with her husband in 1960. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also helped her husband in the Masons. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Larry McConnell officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband following the service at Spring Grove Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
