YORK Betty M. (Senft) Smyser, 90, passed away at home with her family by her side on July 14, 2014. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene E. Smyser, who passed away in 1997. Betty was born in York on January 6, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel (Maul) Senft. She worked as a seamstress for Bernstein's Sewing Factory in York, Laura Deb Co. in York, and Standard Shirt Co. in York, as well as various other sewing factories throughout York County. She also worked as an assembler for Electronics Manufacturing Group in York and American Products Inc. in York. She was a longtime member of the former St. Paul Wolf's U.C.C. in York and enjoyed reading but cherished the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her nephews, Dr. W. Herbert Senft, Douglas P. Senft, Mark J. Senft and Ned J. Senft; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nephew, Craig L. Senft and her brothers, Waldemer Senft and Ronald Senft. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C., 4501 Wolf's Church Road, York, with the Rev. Richard Benner officiating. She will be buried next to her husband at St. Paul Wolf's Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. of Spring Grove.
