GLEN ROCK Paul E. Leas, Jr., 85, died at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was the husband of Doris E. (Jacobs) Leas. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, from the mortuary with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Monday at Mummerts Meeting House Cemetery, Mummerts Church Road, East Berlin, with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born March 5, 1929, in East Berlin, Adams County, Paul was the son of the late Paul E. and Mazie (Spangler) Leas. He was born one of 13 children. Paul was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean War. Paul was employed as a salesman with the former Fulton Mehring & Hauser Co., Inc. of York for 13 years. He then purchased the former Glenville Farm Center. Paul was a member of Grace Bible Church of New Freedom. His one great love was to farm. In addition to his wife, Doris E. (Jacobs) Leas living at home, he leaves two sons, Byron E. Leas and his wife, Nadine of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Mark E. Leas and his wife, Cathy of Loganville; two daughters, Wendy S. Brickner and her husband, Michael of Rocky Mount. N.C., and Amy E. Miller and her husband, Randy of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Fred L. Leas and Harold Leas, both of East Berlin, and Janet Shoemaker of Dover. Contributions in Paul's memory may be made to Grace Bible Church, P.O. Box 246, New Freedom, PA 17349.
