NEW FREEDOM Shawn M. Madden, 45, died Friday, August 1, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Heather Renee (Ballenger) Madden. Viewings will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Fellowship Church, 74 E. Forrest Ave., Shrewsbury. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the church with the Rev. Mark E. Fair officiating. Burial will be in Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Born October 26, 1968, in Seattle, Wash., Shawn was the son of the late George L. "Mack" and Alma Jean (Merritt) Madden. Shawn was a graduate of Foster High School, Seattle, Wash., and received a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Washington State University. Shawn was a co-owner of two Gold's Gyms in Shrewsbury and Eldersburg, Md. He was a Sportscaster in various states, most recently for WJZ-13 in Baltimore, Md. Shawn loved basketball, boxing, and was a certified trainer. He was passionate about fitness and body building and was a Professional Men's Physique Competitor. In addition to his wife, Shawn is survived by his two children, Sammi J. and Jaxon Madden; father-in-law, Bob Ballenger and his wife, Beth; and mother-in-law, Sandy Johnson and her husband, Greg; and six sisters, Saundra King, Sonya Cookie Madden, Shena Madden Montoya, Regina and Tonya Ellison, and Jewel Ellison Cox, all of Seattle Wash. He is also survived by a special aunt, Barbara Franklin; and a special father figure, Bob Fails. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
