YORK Robert L. Zink, Sr., 74, entered into rest unexpectedly on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Penny L. (Dellinger) Zink, whom he married on February 21, 1995. He was born in York, on July 27, 1940, and was the son of the late Paul T. and Ella M. (Hoover) Zink. Robert worked for Caraustar as a Bobst Operator and then retired from Simplex. He also worked at carnivals. He was part owner of Camp Ten. In addition to his wife, Penny, he is survived by three children, Robert L. Zink, Jr. and wife, Robin of Dover, Debra A. Whetzel and husband, Dwayne of Dover, and William D. Zink of Florida; a stepson, Kyle E. Bolton and wife, Laura of Windsor; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Shane of Dallastown and Doris Brinson of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Zink, in March 1979; a grandson, Brandon Zink; and five siblings. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Robert will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406. Robert loved the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was a loving husband to Penny and a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
