DOVER Blaine R. Spoon, 74, entered into rest at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Judith A. (Eisenhart) Spoon. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage on July 1, 2014. Born January 11, 1940 in Dillsburg, Blaine was a son of the late Blaine O. and Dorothy V. (Shuler) Spoon. He retired in 1999 following 30 years of service for Caterpillar where he worked as an inspector. He was previously employed by York Casket Company. Blaine was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and was known by many as "Mountain Man". He enjoyed going to Greensprings Hunting Club where he participated in shooting matches and won numerous marksman trophies. Blaine was also an avid dirt bike rider and a former bowler in several local leagues. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Blaine is survived by two sons, Steven A. Spoon and wife, Elaine of Dover and Michael E. Spoon and wife, Marie of West York; a daughter, Lori A. Spoon of Dover; four grandchildren, Scott A. Spoon, Brandi E. Spoon, Nicole M. Spoon and Robert M. Spoon; a great-granddaughter, Macie L.; and a nephew, Harry Miller III. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jocelyn Spoon Miller. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Blaine's funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Dover Union Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. John M. Woods, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church.
