YORK Jack W. Humbert, 92, died at his residence on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Seifert) Humbert who passed on July 21, 2011. Born in Reading, on March 13, 1922, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Amy S. (Rentschler) Humbert. Jack was a teacher with the Dover Area School District retiring in 1986. He was also the school's tennis coach. Being an avid tennis player, he competed in the York County Senior Olympics and also the National Senior Olympics held in St. Louis where he received a gold medal. He was a graduate of Ursinus College and Millersville University. Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Humbert and his wife, Pamela; a daughter, Jennifer A. Dreisbach and her husband, Don; two grandsons, Nicholas L. Dreisbach and his wife, Lauren, and Tyler S. Dreisbach and his wife, Jessica, and his beloved beagle, Abbie. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Calvin Humbert, Raymond Humbert, Walter Humbert, Jr., Irvin Humbert and Richard Humbert. A graveside service will be held at Mount Rose Cemetery on Thursday at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance by 10:45 a.m. to proceed to the grave site together. Military rites will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Dover Library, 3700-3 Davidsburg Rd., Dover, PA 17315; or the York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
