STEWARTSTOWN Robert Thomas Barclay, 78, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of Sylvia (Rudisill) Barclay, his wife of 48 years. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at First St. John's Lutheran Church, 140 W. King St., York. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. James A. Driskell officiating. Burial will be in New Fairview Church Cemetery, York. Born May 27, 1936, in Baltimore, Md., Robert was the son of the late Dr. Robert Stark Barclay and the late Catherine A. (Scheu) Barclay. Robert was a member of First St. John's Lutheran Church in York and a Trustee. He was also a member of the York County Builders Assoc., a member of PMHA (PA Mobile Home Builders Assoc.), member of N. Hopewell Planning Commission, member of the Executive Board of the York County Republican Club, and a member of Stewart American Legion Post 455. He served in the Maryland National Guard active duty for six years during the Cuban Crisis. Robert was a 1956 graduate of St. Paul's Boys School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Baltimore. He was President and CEO of Barkas Inc. and R.T. Barclay Inc. of York since 1970. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two sons, Rev. Mr. Robert S. Barclay and his wife, Karen, and John W. Barclay and his wife, April Billet Barclay, both of Stewartstown; one daughter, Dr. Karen Holen and her husband, Richard of Andover, Ohio; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Dr. Carolyn Barclay Mazikas and her husband, Dr. Joseph Mazikas of Towson, Md.
