Edward F. Stasik Obituary
SHREWSBURY Edward F. Stasik, 92, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Floye B. (Tye) Stasik. A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with full military honors at 5:30 p.m. by the York County Veterans Honor Guard and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral liturgy will begin at 12 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, with the Rev. Joshua R. Brommer officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in St. Casimer's Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery, Johnstown, at the convenience of the family. Born October 1, 1921, in Johnstown, Cambria County, Ed was the son of the late Frank W. and Angeline A. (Sikora) Stasik. Ed was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom, the New Freedom V.F.W. Post 7012, and the IEEE Organization. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in WWII, and was one of the first radar engineers. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md., and retired from Westinghouse Electric in Baltimore, Md.,, after 30+ years of service. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, and playing the piano and organ. Ed was an avid reader and was forever learning - a true intellectual. Ed is survived by his stepson, Paul Sander of Washington State; one sister, Virginia Zarow; and six brothers, Thaddeus, Jerome, and Arthur Stasik, Francis Stasik and his wife, Marie, Robert Stasik and his wife, Patricia, and Valerian Stasik and his wife, Patricia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Florian and Alfred Stasik. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
