Richard L. Lauer Obituary
RED LION Richard L. Lauer, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2014. He was the husband of Yvonne (Zeigler) Lauer, his wife of 52 years. Following private services, friends are invited to attend a celebration of Richard's life from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at North Hopewell-Winterstown V.F.C., 12246 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322. Richard was born December 3, 1942, in York, to the late Ellen E. Lauer. Richard retired from BMY in York. He was previously employed by JLG, Warners Moving & Storage, Throne Lumber Co., Flinchbaugh Products, T.R. Taylors, and Guy Hobbs. Richard was a member of Winterstown United Methodist Church, and North Hopewell-Winterstown V.F.C for 50 years, where he held the positions of fireman and fire police lieutenant. He was a member of York County Fire Police, Winterstown Boro Council, where he served for several terms, and was a founding member of Olde Stonehedge Campground and Red Lion Area Ambulance Club. Richard was also a member of NCHA, SOYOCO Campers, 83 Campers, Boy Scouts of America, where he served as Scoutmaster for Troop 151 in Winterstown, and Red Lion American Legion Post 543. Richard enjoyed camping, hunting, auctions, public sales, listening to blue grass music, and collecting old photos from Winterstown Boro and Cross Roads. He assisted with locating historical photos for the Winterstown 125th anniversary celebration. Richard will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tim Lauer and his wife, Jackie of Red Lion, Lori (Lauer) Smith of Cross Roads, and Mark Lauer and his wife, Jennifer of Cross Roads; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Richard Curtis Lauer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Hopewell-Winterstown V.F.C at the above address; or to Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322.
