TUCSON, AZ Richard E. Hoover, 77, formerly of York, died at 3:06 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2014, at the Villas at La Canada, in Tucson, Arizona. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Rutter) Hoover. Born March 11, 1937 in York, a son of the late Floyd W. and Catharine P. (Melhorn) Hoover, he was a 1956 graduate of Manchester High School. He was retired from Motter Printing Press Company, and had previously worked for CC Kottcamp, York Container, and Schmidt Baking Company. He was a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tuscon, and was a former member of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Starview Sportman Association and the Birch Run Gun Club. He enjoyed auto racing and horseshoes. Mr. Hoover is survived by a son, Richard E. Hoover, and his wife Pamela, of Tucson; and a brother, Edward W. Hoover of Huntsville, Alabama. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel M. Quickel. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Pleasureville United Methodist Church, 2606 N. Sherman St., York, with The Rev. Frank Miller, officiating. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
