YORK Charles C. Flaharty, 84, died at Rest Haven-York on Friday, January 21, 2011. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Anderson) Flaharty, who died September 30, 2000. Born in York, on July 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Wilber A. and Myrtle B. (Fix) Flaharty. Charles was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a 1944 graduate of Dallastown High School and attended York Junior College. He retired in 1990 as a salesman in the construction industry. Charles was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, served on the Springettsbury Parks and Recreation Commission for 15 years, was a past President and past Lt. Governor of the First Capital Optimists Club, and served on the Board of Directors for the Susan Byrnes Health Education Center since its inception. He is survived by three sons, Chris C. Flaharty of Oberlin, Ohio, Mark C. and his wife, "D" Flaharty of York, and Dirk M. and his wife, Lisa Flaharty of Red Lion; three granddaughters, April E. Billet of Airville, Dana J. Flaharty of Red Lion, and Annissa M. Bollin of York; and a great granddaughter, Olyvia D. Bollin of York. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. Charles will be laid to rest in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan E. Byrnes Health Education Center, 515 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
