LOWER PAXTON TWP. Augusta P. Castellana, 98, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her residence. Born December 13, 1912 in New York, N.Y., she was a daughter of Joseph and Julia (Vass) Gerbovits. Mrs. Castellana had been a dress maker and swimming instructor. She was a former volunteer for the American Red Cross and a recent volunteer for Compassionate Care Hospice as well as a Guardian Angel for the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed crocheting and swimming. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Heiland of Lower Paxton Twp. and Christine Sponseller of Hanover; three grandchildren, Jason Heiland of Morrison, Colo., Julia Nicholson of Harrisburg, Stephanie Sponseller of Hanover; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus Whitstyne of Harrisburg and Ashley Heiland of Morrison, Colo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick T. Castellana, and a brother, Joseph Gerbovitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Saint Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, with the Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as celebrant. Hospice Chaplain Elizabeth Fundalewicz will deliver the eulogy. Friends will be received at the church from 10:15 a.m. until the time of mass. Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York.
