SPRING GROVE Ray A. Wagner, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2011, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Georgeann A. (Paterson) Wagner. Together they shared over 13 years of marriage. Ray was born in Spring Grove, on September 18, 1942, and was the son of the late Katherine and Norman Wagner. He graduated from Susquehannock High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked for Wayneco Kitchens, Inc. in York and retired after 27 years of employment. He was a longtime member of St. Paul (Dubs) Church in Hanover. He was a train enthusiast and had an extensive collection. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children, David Wagner of Hanover, Sue Aten of Jefferson, and Sally Smith and her husband, Tracey of Seven Valleys; his stepchildren, William A. Brown, Jr. of Rollette, Steven L. Brown of Gardners, and Millie S. Mills and husband, Damian of Thomasville. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; and his brothers, Marvin Wagner of Hanover and Harry Wagner of Spring Grove. He was predeceased by his brother, Burnell Wagner of Colorado. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Craig A. Lantz officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at St. Paul (Dubs) Cemetery in Hanover with a flag folding ceremony provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
