DALLASTOWN John A. Helfrich, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Manor Care Dallastown. He was born January 25, 1929, in Dallastown, the son of the late John F. and Mary A. (Rohland) Helfrich. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 251 E. Main St., Dallastown, with Rev. John McCloskey, OFMCap officiating. A viewing will be held at church from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery. Mr. Helfrich is survived by six brothers, Paul Helfrich of York, James Helfrich of Philadelphia, Girard Helfrich of Alexandria, Va., Charles Helfrich of Lexington, Ky., and Richard Helfrich of Glen Arm, Md., and Francis Helfrich of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret Lowe of York, Sister Ada Helfrich of Philadelphia, and Theresa Smith of Dallastown. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Roman Helfrich and Joseph Helfrich; and a sister, Rosalee Helfrich. Mr. Helfrich was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dallastown. He attended St. Francis Xavier's School of the Deaf in Baltimore, Md., and then York Catholic High School. He worked as a plumber with his father from 1956 until 1973 and then in the maintenance department at Memorial Hospital. He also owned and operated a small furniture refinishing company for many years. Mr. Helfrich was a volunteer at the Rescue Mission Store for many years as well. Mr. Helfrich's family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 251 E. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313. To share memories of John A.
