DOVER Jerry L. Rutter, 71, died early Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of the late Carolyn A. (Schriver) Rutter. They were married 37 years. Born June 28, 1940 in York, he was a son of the late M. Ebert "Bud" and Florence R. (Bupp) Rutter. Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Central York High School. He and his wife owned and operated Rutter's Livestock Farm in Dover since 1964. Jerry was a life member of the York County Agricultural Society and a member of Dover Fish and Game; Wellsville Fire Company; Dover Township Fire Company; Union Fire & Hose Co. #1, Dover; and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Jerry is survived by two brothers, Leo E. Rutter and wife, Marge, and Michael N. Rutter and wife, Judy, all of York; three nephews; five nieces; six grand-nephews; and eight grand-nieces. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jerry's funeral at 2 p.m. and the viewing from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. W. Michael Langford, pastor of Messiah U.M. Church in York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville Fire Company, 95 Community St., Wellsville, PA 17365.
