YORK Doris Irene (Hunter) Sowers, 84, went to heaven Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012, at her new home. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Sowers. Doris was born February 14, 1928, in Hellam Township, York County. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert W. Hunter and Frances (Hetrick) Hunter. Doris graduated from York Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her Registered Nurse Degree. She worked for York Hospital and later retired from Rest Haven of York. Doris lived in Mesa, Ariz., for the past 13 years, where she enjoyed the beautiful weather and shuffle boarding. Doris is survived by a daughter, Paula Boone Leib of Dover; four grandchildren, Casey Boone and fiance, Joe Goodling of York, Travis Boone and companion, Kimberly Walmer of York, Christopher Leib and wife, Savannah of Dover, and Brandi Leib of Dover; and six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Goodling, Collin Warmijak, Destiny Warmijak, Takota Boone, Brayly Leib, and Rylei Leib. She is also survived by four sisters, Joyann Chesney, Frances Hunter, Mary Shaffer, and Kathleen Thomas. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Dallas Hunter, Dale Hunter, Robert Hunter, and Gilbert Hunter, Jr.; and one sister, Nancy (Hunter) Weaver.
