DOVER Julia L. (Bixler) Clemens, 88, formerly of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at her home. She was the wife of Garland S. Clemens, who passed away July 16, 1984. She was born February 3, 1924, in Manchester, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Louise (Schriver) Bixler. Julia graduated from Manchester High School in 1941 and Thompson Business School in York. She was employed as a Postal Clerk by the Manchester Post Office in Manchester for over 20 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of AARP, National Active Retired Federal Employees #331 of York, Associate member of the West Shore National Active Retired Federal Employees #1465, White Rose Chapter #360 order of the Eastern Star, and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester, where she was a member for 72 years. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Cynthia Berkheimer and husband, Wayne of Dover; her two sons, Michael Clemens and wife, Patricia of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Hanover, and Mark Clemens and wife, Tammy of York; her six grandchildren, Joshua Clemens, Luke Berkheimer, Amanda Czapp, Timothy Berkheimer, Travis Clemens. and Tyler Clemens; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and her sister, Arlene Gingerich of Winterhaven, Fla. Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf, and 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the church. Officiating at the service will be her pastors, The Rev. Chuck Sprenkle, and the Rev. Darby Nace. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.
