YORK Jean B. (Bittinger) Deardorff, 85, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 7:20 p.m. at the Village at Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late Leroy J. Deardorff and the late Howard R. Goodemote. There will be no viewing. Following cremation with Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., York, there will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14th at Prospect Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Gustaf "Hank" Steinhilber, chaplain at Sprenkle Drive, will officiate. A procession will form at 10:45 a.m. at the Penna. Ave. entrance to the cemetery. Mrs. Deardorff was born February 4, 1927 in York, the daughter of the late Dale A. and Marie E. (Hartman) Bittinger. She was a payroll secretary at Memorial Hospital, a graduate of William Penn H.S., and a member of the York Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, OES White Rose Chapter #360, Women's Club of York, Lions Club and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Deardorff is survived by a stepdaughter, Margaret A. "Marnette" Sexton and husband Mike of York; two stepsons, Stephen L. Deardorff of Red Lion and Michael E. Deardorff and wife Barb of Arlington, Texas; five step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul H. Goodemote.
