WEST YORK BORO Mark Avery "Coop" Cooper, Sr., 53, entered into eternal rest with family by his side on Monday, November 12, 2012, from York Hospital. Born November 3, 1959, in York, he was the son of the late Doris Louise (Ickes) and Royce Frederick Cooper. "Coop", as he was fondly known, graduated from York Vo-Tech, where he majored in automotive and diesel mechanics. He was a self-employed mechanic. Mark was a collector of all items and enjoyed being with family and friends. He was always there for others and was a giving man. Coop could always be counted on for a good time and a laugh. He leaves to cherish his memory five children, Mark Cooper, Jr. and wife, Arijana of Dover, and Candice Cooper and spouse, Krystal, Tyler Howard, Crystal Kauffman, and Shawn Stephens, all of York; a brother, Michael Cooper and wife, Judy, and a sister, Michelle Cooper, both of York; his former wife with whom he shared 16 years, Rhonda Phillips of Dover; 10 grandchildren, Dominic, Nathan, Anthony, Javonte, Brooklynn, Alexis, Deonna, Devlin, Dandin, and Chakonie; and a legion of friends. He was preceded in death by his fiancee, Tracy Stephens, and a sister, Marsha McDonald. Family and friends may attend a Celebration of Life Service at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, PA 17403. Family and friends are invited to a gatherine afterwards at the Overbrook Cafe. Memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
