YORK Caroline Elizabeth "Betty" Gross, 84, died at 10:49 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Floyd E. Gross. Born April 30, 1928, in West Chester, the only child of Reed and Florence (Watkins) Russell, she was a graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School in Richardson Park, Delaware, and attended the Delaware School of Music branch of Curtis Conservatory. She was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church, and its choir, in West York, and Atonement Lutheran Church, and its choir, while living in Reading for 20 years. She had also been a member of the Wilmington Opera in Delaware, the Matinee Music Club of York, the Professional Engineers Auxiliary of Reading, and Devers Lions Club Auxiliary. Mrs. Gross is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Gross, and his wife, Marian, of York, and Robert F. Gross, of Vineland, New Jersey; two grand-daughters, Emily George and Carrie Herold; and three great-grandchildren, Greta George, Wesley Edward "Ned" George V, and Charlotte Herold; as well as a large extended family. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Saint James Lutheran Church, 25 N. Adams St., York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Brenda Ferree, officiating.
