YORK John W. Fisher, 84, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. John was the husband of the late Pauline L. (Fate) Fisher. John and Pauline were married for 55 years. Born February 19, 1928, in Hellam, he was the son of the late John H. and Hattie M. (Crumbling) Fisher. John was a retired employee of the former Campbell Chain Co. for over 20 years. Prior to that position, he was the owner of the former Hellam Shoe Repair. This business was formerly owned by his father, who was an accomplished artisan in the making of tack for work and pleasure horses. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Japan. He was a member of ValleyView Alliance Church and a former member of: Christian Motor Cycle Assoc., York Rifle Range, Campco AA, Isaac Walton League, Conewago Trail Riders, Susquehanna Senior Center. Mr. Fisher is survived by two sons, John F. Fisher and his wife, Mary of Dover and Harold E. Fisher and his wife, Mary of York; a daughter, Jean M. Fate of York; two grandchildren, Matthew J. Fisher and his wife, Lisa of Dover and Jennifer A. Wilt and her husband, Adam of York; three great-grandchildren, Eric J. and Nicole A. Fisher of Dover and Samuel Wilt of York. The Fisher Family would like to thank the nurses and staff in the Wedgewood II Wing for all of their special care and attention, while John was there. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the ValleyView Alliance Church, 200 Alliance Avenue Hellam, with the Rev. Donald J. Pullen, his pastor, officiating. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. till the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full Military Rites at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc.
