YORK Darvin L. "Zook" Markey, 78, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12:52 p.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Yvonne E. (McIntire) Markey with whom he celebrated their 58th wedding anniverary on March 25, 2012. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, December 21st at Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. The service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert W. Lowden, intentional interim pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Mr. Markey was born December 24, 1933 in York, and was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Minnich) Markey. He was retired as a project manager in construction with R&R Plaster and Drywall, Inc., a graduate of William Penn H.S., a member of Plasterers & Cement Masons Union Local in Harrisburg, and a former member of Devers Lions Club and the York County Builders Association. Mr. Markey is survived by his wife; three daughters, Susan E. Masters of Chantilly, Va., Cathy L. Ziegler of Naples, Fla., and Jennifer A. Anderson of York; three sons, Jeffrey L. Markey of York, Bruce A. Markey of Red Lion and Raymond L. Markey of York; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Markey.
