JACOBUS David E. Eshelman, 88, died on December 23, 2012, at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred M. (Bechtel) Eshelman, of Jacobus; together they were married for 66 years. Born in Emigsville, he was the son of the late Warren T. and Mary Ellen (Mumper) Eshelman. He was an accountant beginning with George F. Motter and Sons and retiring in 1989 from I.B. Abel Electric. He was a World War II veteran serving as a Quarter Master with the 82nd Airborne and flew in gliders in the Battle of the Bulge. David was a 1941 graduate of North York High School and the Thompson Institute. He was a member of the NAA York Chapter He was also a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Jacobus. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, David L. Eshelman and his wife, Sally S. of York; a daughter, Debra E. Raver and her husband, David A. of York; four grandchildren, Kenton Raver, Caitlin Landsman, Scott and Robert Eshelman; two great-grandchildren, Jane and Jonathan Landsman; two brothers, Gilbert Eshelman of Manheim, Kenneth Eshelman of Wrightsville; and a sister, Marian Stabley of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eshelman and a sister, Vera Stein. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 24 Franklin St., Jacobus, with the Rev. Fred Walthour officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
