YORK Sheila Francine Banks, 60, went home to be with the Lord in paradise on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Sheila was born in York, on April 3, 1952, to Edith (Ballard) Thomas and the late Robert Thomas, Sr. Sheila was a graduate of Kentucky State University and worked for Crispus Attucks Community Center as a Data Specialist. She also served on the Board of Directors for Pathstone. She loved singing and in the past served as Minister of Music for her church, Bible Tabernacle Christian Center, for many years. As well she sang on the Praise Team and was the Church Secretary. In addition to her mother, Sheila leaves to mourn her loss, but celebrate her memory, a son, Brian S. Banks (Nancy); a daughter, Shalita W. (Banks) Butler (Scoey); three brothers, Robert Thomas, Jr., Keith Thomas, and Barry Thomas; one sister, Angel Thomas; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thomas, Sr. Viewings are scheduled for Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 29, 2012, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bible Tabernacle Christian Center, 361 S. Pine St., York 17401. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday with her pastor, the Rev. Carl Scott, Sr., officiating and serving as eulogist.
