HARRISBURG Carl "Yates" Becker, went to be with the Lord on Monday January 7, 2013, under the care of his beloved family. He was the husband of the late Marian L. (Hoopes) Becker. He was born April 20, 1927, in Dover, York County, to the late Carl E. Becker Sr. and Iva (Klinedinst) Becker. Yates served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a master journeyman plumber in Local 520. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and antiquing with them. He was a life member of the East Harrisburg VFW Post 1718, a member of the American LegionPost 998 and Masons Harrisburg Lodge No. 629. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Penbrook and also attended Open Door Bible Church, Middletown. He is survived by his three children Cynthia (Becker) Christ and husband Robert of Harrisburg, Robin Becker and wife Nancy of Philadelphia, and Keith Becker and wife Terri of New Cumberland; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Andrew Christ and Scott and Megan Becker; and three sisters, Iva Nace and husband James of York, Shirley Davis of York, and Patricia and husband Norman McCurdy of Dillsburg. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at K.M. Knight Funeral Home, 31 Second St., Highspire. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a one hour viewing beforehand. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Dr., Camp Hill, PA 17011; or to the Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 1078, Carlisle, PA 17013.
