Ruth S. Toomey Obituary
AURORA, OH Ruth S. Toomey, 97, passed away on January 7, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield, Ohio, following a brief illness. She was born on August 12, 1915, in New Bridgeville, the daughter of the late Dr. William J. and Ida Smith Shenberger. Her family moved to Windsor, in 1918, where she resided until May, 2012, when she moved to Aurora and became a resident of The Kensington Care Center. She was the wife of the late Harold D. Toomey, President of the Enterprise Tobacco Corporation in Red Lion. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Hester Wood, (George), and Ferne Seitz; and brother-in-law, Clyde Seitz. She is survived by a son, William S. Toomey and daughter-in-law, Nancy M. Toomey, of Aurora, Ohio; three cherished grandchildren, William H. Toomey of Aurora, Ohio, Michael P. Toomey, (Patricia Wagner), of Findlay, Ohio, and John C. Toomey, (Jennifer), of Carlsbad, Calif.; two adored great-grandchildren, Ariel Toomey of Henderson, Nev., and Chase Toomey of Orange, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, and dear lifelong friends. Ruth was a gourmet cook, loved gardening, fashion, baseball, deep sea fishing, horse racing, traveling with her husband, shopping, and was an avid bridge player who continued to enjoy the daily bridge feature in the newspaper up to the time of her illness. In her youth, Ruth was known for her beauty and remained so until the end. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Johnson Romito Funeral Home 9819 Darrow Road Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.
