YORK Harriet G. (Gentzler) Zarfoss, 93, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Manor Care South. She was the wife of the late Clair H. Zarfoss. Born November 13, 1919, in York, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Margaret K. (Gladfelter) Gentzler. She was a secretary at the York Bank. She retired in 1988 after 48 years with the bank. Harriet was a 19M38 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and attended Thompson Business School. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church and was president of the church Altar Guild for 23 years. She was a former member of the Out Door Country Club and the Historical Society of York County. Harriet enjoyed bowling, bridge, and socializing with her friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by five nieces, Mary Louise Leason of Houston, Texas, Cheryl Henry and her husband, James of Dallastown, Dawn DeMaine of Dallastown, Linda Elliott and her husband, John of Marion, Mass., and Jane Zarfoss of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Anderson of Melbourne, Fla. Harriet was preceded in death by two nephews, James Zarfoss and Donald Leason; two brothers, Raymond and Ralph Gentzler; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Gentzler. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, with her pastor, the Rev. Elizabeth C. Polanzke, officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
