YORK Ralph John Henise, 84, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Hester P. (McClune) Henise. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Born May 27, 1928, in Pleasureville, he was the son of the late Frank Elias and Cora Estella (Cunningham) Henise. Ralph was a tool grinder for Allis Chalmers for 15 years and for Caterpillar, Inc. for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Ralph was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, the Hawks Gunning Club, the Galleria Bowlers, Caterpillar Retirees, and the UAW Local 786. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ralph J. Henise, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Hopkinton, Mass.; a daughter, Jane E. Snelbaker and her husband, Donald of York; two grandsons, Brian A. Henise and Adam K. Gemmill and his fiancee, Kendra Bortner; and several nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Lecrone and Georgetta Frey; and a brother, Franklin Henise. A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel, and the Rev. Forrest S. "Bud" Bish, visitation pastor at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
