YORK JoAnn Babcock, 69, passed away on Sunday evening, January 13, 2013, at her home with her husband and children by her bedside. Born on September 3, 1943 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Frank J. and Stephanie (Linder) Pfister. JoAnn loved nature. She was an active Master Gardener through the Penn State Cooperative Extension for many years. In addition to gardening, she enjoyed bird watching. JoAnn took many trips to the mountains and beach to observe birds. What started out as a small vegetable garden in the backyard at her home, turned into an entire native plant landscape and bird sanctuary. JoAnn is survived by her husband of 48 years Bruce S. Babcock. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: David S. Babcock and his wife Susan of York, Devin T. Babcock and his wife Gwendolyn of Dallastown, and Darcy L. Babcock and her fiance T. J. Kerr of Boston, Mass. Grandma dearly loved and was instrumental in helping to raise her four grand-daughters: Jessica and Addison Babcock, daughters of David and Susan, and Kaeden and Rory Babcock, daughters of Devin and Gwendolyn. JoAnn is also survived by her brother, Raymond Pfister and wife Lisa Ross, of Redding, Calif. The family will be having a private celebration of JoAnn's life and love for her family.
