Gilbert Caruso Obituary
YORK Gilbert Caruso, 79, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Pleasant Acres. He was the loving husband of Phyllis Ann (Metzel) Caruso, York his wife of 61 years. He was born June 1, 1933, in Pottsville the son of the late Vito L. and Delina (Caruso) Caruso. Mr. Caruso was an assembler with York Shipley and retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Prince Athletic Club, the Viking Athletic Club and the 9th Ward Political Club all in York. Mr. Caruso enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Johnny R. Caruso, York, Janet M. Zink and husband Charles, York, Beverly A. Kessler and husband Timothy D., Sr., York and Jean M. Ierley and husband Robert L., Jr., York, brother, Alfred Caruso, York, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor and Francis Caruso; grandson, Scott Zink and Charles B. Zink, Jr.; and great-grandson, Wyatt Cadle. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Pastor Richard Starr officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
