HANOVER Lester E. "Lefty" Miller, 91, of Homewood Home at Plum Creek, formerly of Spring Grove, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at the home. He was the husband of the late Norene E. (Renoll) Miller. A celebration of his life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's (Dub's) Church, 1958 Dub's Church Road, Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Larry M. Estepp, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. There will be no viewing Friday at the church. Mr. Miller was born on November 18, 1921, in Manheim Township, a son of the late Solomon R. and Lottie (Rohrbaugh) Miller. He retired in 1984 from the former Cole Steel Company in York, where he was employed as a Press/Machine Operator for over 24 years. He had farmed for many years in the Manheim Township area. He was a member of St. Paul's Dubs United Church of Christ, a 50 year member of the Jefferson Sportsmens Club, a member of the Jefferson Fire Company, the Jefferson Baseball Association, and had volunteered at the PAL meal program in Hanover. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Miller leaves two sons, Gary L. Miller and his wife, Sue of Spring Grove, and Sidney K. Miller and his wife, Jean of Hanover; a daughter, Carolyn F. Greenplate and her husband, Joe of Glen Rock; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Helen Aughenbaugh of Hanover, Betty Wright of Spring Grove, Artella Cool of Brodbecks, and Mary Bollinger of Spring Grove; and his brothers, Harry Miller of Hanover, Eugene Miller and Glenn Miller, both of Littlestown, and Solomon Miller, Jr. of Spring Grove. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kayla; by three sisters; and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul's (Dub's) Church Building Fund, 1958 Dub's Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
