YORK Edward G. Landis, Jr., 90, died at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Health South Rehab Hospital. He was the husband of Helen A. (Miller) Landis, who died on December 25, 2006. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, at Grace U.M. Church, 37 N. Broad St., York, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Steven S. Cowfer will officiate with burial to follow in Mount Rose Cemetery. Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., York, is handling the arrangements. Mr. Landis was born August 18, 1922, in York, and was the son of the late Edward G., Sr. and Mertis (Shirey) Landis. He was a welder, having retired after 41 years with Pitman Mfg. Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran, lifetime member of Grace U.M. Church, member of the York Athletic Club, and a devoted family man. Mr. Landis is survived by a son, Randy S. Landis of York; a granddaughter, Chelsey R. Landis Kane and husband, Mitchell of York; two great-grandsons, Aidan and Levi Kane; a sister, Doris Billet of York; and a brother, Dale Landis of York. He was preceded in death by fived sisters, Ethel Krout, Grace Slaughenhaupt, Ruth Tarman, Nancy Reindollar, and Lois Stough; and a brother, Kenneth Landis.
