Mary E. Smeltzer Obituary
WRIGHTSVILLE Mary E. Smeltzer, 96, died peacefully at home, Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Mary was the wife of the late Donald E. "Iver" Smeltzer; he died January 28, 1979. Born in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Beard Peters. A loving homemaker, Mary loved to spend time with friends and family, who affectionately called her "Gram". She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Wrightsville. Mary was also a member of the American Legion, Wrightsville, and a life member of the Susquehanna Fish and Game, Wrightsville. She enjoyed taking care of her cats. Mary is survived by her children, Robert D. Williams of Los Angeles; Linda Wren of Wrightsville; Sandy wife of Bob Gipe of Wrightsville; Chris Smeltzer at home, her grandchildren: Lisa, Greg, Jackie, and Joan, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter Joan Mable, her sister Ruth Plank, and her brother Glen Peters. A celebration of Mary's life will be held Saturday from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, at 11 a.m. (Viewing 10-11a.m.) with Deacon Jeffrey A. Baylor as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Wrightsville.
