DILLSBURG Darlene M. Grove, 79, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Hershey Medical Center. Darlene was the widow of Dale E. Grove. She was born August 13, 1933, in Dillsburg, the daughter of the late Marshall and Mary (Harris) Smith. She was a retired optometry receptionist with Dr. Levin and then Dr. Bytof in Dillsburg. Darlene was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Dillsburg Senior Center, member and Vice-Queen of the Red Hat Pickle Dilly's, and the Lacie Racie Ladies Red Hat Society. She was a former member of the Dillsburg Women's Club and volunteered with the Dillsburg Community Fair Assoc. Darlene is survived by two sons, Dennis E. Grove (Linda Lau) of East Berlin, and Douglas E. Grove (Deborah) of Severn, Md.; one brother, John H. Smith (Faye) of Dillsburg; one sister, Beverly A. Davis of Dillsburg; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Witmer (Dan) of Dillsburg and Pat Smith of Dillsburg; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Grove (Shirley) of Ulysses and Daniel Haring of Dillsburg. She also leaves behind one grandson, Kurtis E. Grove (Nikki); a great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. in her church, 203 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, 203 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg, PA 17019. The family would like to express deep appreciation to all who loved, watched over, and helped care for Darlene during her illness.
