YORK Andrew F. Hoover, 90, passed away at 5:18 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was the husband of Valerie E. (Taube) Hoover, who died on March 17, 2005. Mr. Hoover was born February 4, 1923, in East Manchester Township, the son of the late Alfred and Minnie (Bahn) Hoover. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1941. He worked for the Central School District at Hayshire Elementary before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the White Rose V.F.W. Post and Zion United Church of Christ in York. Mr. Hoover proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Army in the European Theater. Mr. Hoover is survived by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Kindig. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Philip Nace from Zion U.C.C. Flag folding will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
