YORK Marian Althea (Black) Harteis, 91, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Manor Care Kingston Court. She was the wife of Francis Edward Harteis, to whom she was married for 57 years. Francis died in 1998. Born in South Fork, Pa., on June 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lena Black. She graduated from Sidman High School. She married Francis on May 17, 1941. They lived in Geistown (outside of Johnstown), and later moved to Ebensburg and Punxsutawney, and finally settled in York. Marian worked for over 20 years as Head Seamstress and Manager of Jane's Little Mending Shop on West King St., York, and later, after she retired, she worked part-time at The Bon-Ton Dept. Store in the Men's' Dept. Mrs. Harteis was a member of St. Patrick's Church in York, the Welcome Wagon, and Cool Creek Golf Club. She was an avid seamstress, bridge player, golfer, baker, a loving mother, and homemaker. She is survived by her four children, a brother and a sister, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Her children are Robert Harteis and his wife, Jane of Biglerville, Barbara Kraft and husband, George of York, Richard Harteis of Uncasville, Conn., and Juddi Brennan and her husband, John of San Diego, Calif. Her surviving brother and sister are Lynn Black and wife, Betty of Ocala, Fla., and Hazel Black Houghton. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ardith Sherbine and Lois Alexander; and brothers, Wade Black, Neal Black, Meade Black, and Keith Black. Funeral services will be held at Boulding Mortuary, Inc., 471 Madison Ave., York 17404 at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Father Dennis of St. Joseph Church, York, will be officiating. Burial will be in Holy Savior Cemetery, York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to, Access York, 633 S. George St., York PA 17401.
