YORK Kathryn Romaine (Smith) Hengst, 92, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Erwin P. Hengst until his passing in 2008. Mrs. Hengst was born September 13, 1920, in York, the daughter of the late Harry and Edith (Sloat) Smith. Kathryn was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She worked at York Dress for 15 years and retired from there in 1962. She was a charter member of PA Farm Women Group #10. She was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Dallastown, for 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and was the Sunday school superintendent. She was currently a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Kathryn is survived by her son, Bradley D. Hengst of Jacobus, and her daughter, Naomi Rossignol of Woodland, Wash.; she is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Darlene Jennings. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Kathryn will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 2523 Pine Grove Rd., York with Rev. Joel N. Coleman officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in Kathryn's name can be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 2523 Pine Grove Rd., York, PA 17403. The Austin H.
