Cynthia Bennett Obituary
YORK Cynthia Bennett, 55, of Manchester Township, died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at home after a long illness. She was the wife of William Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was born on October 23, 1957, in Holyoke, Massachusetts; she was the daughter of Ralph and Eunice (Hoessler) Thomson of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She attended Grove City College, graduating with a degree in accounting, and subsequently earned her license as a CPA. She was employed at Community Progress Council as the Fiscal Administrator for Head Start and Early Head Start programs of York County. Throughout her adult life she has had a drive to help children. She has always sponsored several children through Christian Children's Fund, was a CASA for York County, adopted her daughter, had a foster daughter, and hosted seven foreign exchange students for a school year as well as placed and supervised over 20 other exchange students with York County families. She was a member of St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church. In addition her husband and parents, Mrs. Bennett is survived by a son, Joseph Skopic of Fairfax, Virginia; a daughter, Gabrielle Skopic of York; step daughter, Jacqueline Morris, and her husband Robert, of York; two step sons, James Bennett of Beverly, Massachusetts, and Jonathan Bennett of Charlestown, Massachusetts; three step grandchildren, Bryce Morris, Caitlyn Morris, and Nathan Bennett; a sister, Cheri Nystead of Worcester, Massachusetts; and a brother, Matthew Thomson of Windham, Connecticut. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, 2397 N. Sherman St., York, followed by interment at St. John Chrysostom Cemetery adjacent to the Church. Officiating will be her Pastor, The Rev. Fr. Peter Pier. A wake will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York, followed by a Vigil Wednesday evening at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Chrysostom Icon Fund, 2397 N.
